Blame Parsley...

Sorry, I meant to review a book tonight. But I've spent my time using YouTube to re-discover children's programmes from my youth... and before. Especially The Herbs. I await joyful cries...

'I'm Bayleaf, I'm the gaaard'ner, I work from early daaawn'

'I'm Dill the dog, I'm a dog called Dill'

'I'm a very friendly lion called Parsely...'

  3. Hmmm, yes I certainly do remember the Herbs (from its first showing) but I do not have fond memories of it. Now the Magic Roundabout (Manege Enchante) is still a fabulous treat, and just as wonderful in the original French version as in the English language adaption.

  4. I'm too old for the herbs. My era was Andy Pandy, Woodentops, Flowerpot Men (schlobberlob weeeed!).
Then later with my baby sister: Trumpton, Camberwick Green etc "Pew, Pew, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble & Grub". Even later with MY eldest "Postman Pat, Postman Pat, Postman Pat and his black and white cat. early in the morn .......

  5. I don't remember the Herbs but I loved the Moomins and I'm currently reading all the Moomins books, which are amazing! The woman was clearly off her head but then all the best writers are. If you have the slightest interest in kids books get yourself a copy of 'The Finn Family Moomintroll' right now. You can thank me later.

  6. I never watched this but I remember my friend at school singing the Dill the Dog song! Will venture on YouTube to check it out...

I've been doing the same childhood-revisiting thing myself over the last few days - a friend here has got me addicted to Storyteller and the Animated Shakespeare!

  7. Herbidaceous!
(I'd have to disagree with Peter - the Magic Roundabout always left me cold).

  8. Love the Herbs! But also The Magic Roundabout which was the first programme which I was ever aware of working on more than one level (OK, it was because my Dad told me it did, but still...)

  10. Joyful cries from this corner! I remember watching very early in the morning when I was young, as I used to get up about 6am.
Sigh - this is no way to cure me from my YouTube addiction!
